The Tiger gymnastics team (4-0) has steadily moved up the polls the past two weeks from their preseason spot at No. 16. After the first week the team moved up just one spot to No. 15, currently, they are sitting at No. 13 after two weeks of competition. The team averages in the top 20 on all four events as well - No. 13 on vault, No. 7 on bars, No. 12 on beam and No. 20 on floor.

This is the first time since 1992 that Missouri is 4-0. The 1992 Tigers finished the season 15-7 and won the program's only conference championship (Big Eight).

Several Tiger gymnasts are ranked individually in the national rankings as well. In the all-around, sophomore Mary Burke (Inverness, Ill.) is seventh, senior All-American Sarah Shire (Columbia, Mo.) is tied in 27th and freshman Lauren Swankoski (Chadds Ford, Pa.) is 36th. After only one vault this season, freshman Tori Howard (Chesterfield, Mo.) is tied in 39th. On bars Burke is tied for seventh while senior Becky Scholle (Chesterfield, Mo.) is tied for 49th. Shire has the highest ranking of any Tiger with a tie for second on beam. Senior beam specialist Brooke Boehmer (Overland Park, Kan.) is tied for 50th on the event. Burke is also ranked on floor where she is tied for 28th.

It was just announced that Shire is this week's Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. It is the seventh time in her career that Shire has won the weekly award. It is also the second time in as many weeks that a Missouri gymnast has won the award. Burke was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week after the first week of competition for the first time of her career.

Will the Missouri gymnastics team be able to keep the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week streak alive at three? Stay tuned to to find out as they take on No. 17 Iowa State on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearnes Center for the sixth annual Pink Out meet.
